Nadim Mehanna and his MotorShow team took the latest MG Cyberster for a comprehensive drive in the UAE.

The MG Cyberster marks a significant return for the brand to the world of open-top sports cars, now reimagined for the electric era.

Developed by SAIC Motor, the Cyberster stands out as MG’s first fully electric roadster, blending the charm of British motoring heritage with contemporary design and cutting-edge technology. Its styling pays tribute to icons like the MG B Roadster, but with bold, modern features such as scissor doors, a low-slung profile, and LED lighting. The result is a car that captures attention and reflects the spirit of the brand while pushing into the future.

In terms of performance, the Cyberster comes in multiple configurations. The top-tier variant is equipped with dual electric motors, delivering up to 536 hp, 725 Nm of torque, and accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds.

For those seeking a more balanced drive, a rear-wheel-drive, single-motor version is also available, offering a longer range and a more accessible entry point into electric sports cars. With a robust lithium-ion battery, the Cyberster can cover up to 503 km on a full charge, depending on the version, and supports fast-charging to reduce downtime on longer journeys.

Inside, the Cyberster features a futuristic driver-focused cockpit. The cabin is dominated by a wraparound triple-screen display that includes a digital instrument cluster, a central infotainment screen, and a separate passenger display.

The interface is intuitive and responsive, with support for voice control, smartphone integration, and over-the-air updates. Smart driver assistance systems are also present, enhancing safety without compromising the thrill of the drive.

The interior materials and layout strike a balance between tech-driven modernity and the sporty feel expected from a roadster.

In 2025, the MG Cyberster has officially launched in several markets including China, the UK, and parts of Europe, with other regions such as the GCC.

As one of the only electric convertibles currently in production, it offers a unique value proposition for drivers looking for excitement and sustainability in one package. Its competitive pricing makes it even more appealing, positioning MG as a serious player in the global EV market, particularly among younger and lifestyle-oriented consumers.

The launch of the MG Cyberster signals a new era for the brand. It’s no longer just about practical electric cars, it’s about emotion, experience, and style.

In a world where most EVs lean toward function over form, the Cyberster offers a refreshing alternative.

It’s a bold, confident step into the future, proving that electric cars can be fun, desirable, and expressive.
