The MG HS is a modern compact SUV that reflects the brand’s evolving design language and growing global presence. Built to offer a refined driving experience with premium features, the HS successfully balances style, technology, safety, and practicality.
Visually, the MG HS projects a confident and athletic presence on the road. The horizontal design of the side profile emphasizes strength, while the floating D-pillar enhances the dynamic silhouette of the roofline. At the front, a wide grille paired with sharp, technological LED headlamps lends the vehicle a contemporary and elegant appearance. The use of bold lines and carefully sculpted surfaces conveys a sense of movement even when the car is stationary.
Inside, the MG HS impresses with a premium interior that prioritizes space and comfort. The horizontal, symmetrical dashboard layout creates a wide and uncluttered visual effect, while the use of soft-touch materials and precise build quality elevate the perceived refinement. High-quality materials are used throughout the cabin, with particular attention paid to components like the 3-spoke steering wheel and the automatic transmission’s gear lever. Designed with families in mind, the cabin offers generous legroom and headroom for all occupants. Rear passengers benefit from ISOFIX child seat mounts and dedicated storage solutions, including eight of the vehicle’s total 19 compartments. The luggage area offers 507 liters of capacity and is fitted with a cargo net to keep items secure.
The MG HS is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 162 hp at 5,500 rpm and 250 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm. This engine can be mated to either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, depending on the variant. Capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 9.9 seconds, the vehicle offers a smooth and efficient performance suited for daily driving. Its top speed is estimated at 190 km/h. Depending on the market and trim, the MG HS is equipped with either 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/60 R17 tires or 18-inch alloys fitted with 235/50 R18 tires, striking a balance between style and ride comfort.
The MG Pilot suite is central to the brand’s safety offering and comes standard in the new HS. A total of 13 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) is included, such as Lane Keep Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Lane Change Assist. These features enhance driver awareness and actively work to reduce the likelihood of accidents in everyday driving. Passive safety is also prioritized with the inclusion of seven airbags—including a central front airbag between the driver and front passenger. Over 70% of the vehicle’s body structure is made from high-strength steel, ensuring a rigid safety cell that protects occupants in the event of a collision.
In terms of in-car technology, the MG HS offers a digital-first experience that enhances both convenience and connectivity. The cabin features dual 12.3-inch screens—one for the digital instrument cluster and another for infotainment—creating a modern and immersive interface. Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ are included as standard, while four USB ports and an optional wireless charging pad ensure all occupants can stay connected and powered on the go. Additional features such as a rearview camera and hands-free access further contribute to the vehicle’s user-friendly design.
Measuring 4,610 mm in length, 1,876 mm in width, and 1,685 mm in height, the MG HS sits on a wheelbase of 2,720 mm. The interior dimensions have been optimized to prioritize passenger comfort and practical storage, with a total of 19 compartments thoughtfully distributed throughout the cabin.
